Minnie Knot Dress/Top

I started on Bailey's Minnie Knot Top this last weekend using the bodice piece of the knot dress I found on here: http://bridgetbaxter.blogspot.com/2008/04/happy-anniversary-to-you.html I used the size 6 pattern and glad I did because it fits great (Size 4's fit a tad snug). I wanted something more casual and saw a few cute outfits on etsy that gave me the idea to do the knot top with matching pants that have a ruffle on the bottom. I would have made the top more full but I didn't buy enough fabric...plus it would have made it heavier and I wanted a light weight top for her to wear at Disney World. I may shorten the top after I finish the pants to see if it needs to be shorter. This was my second attempt at button holes and after a few practice rounds I remembered again. I can only embroider one letter at a time when I use letters from my zip drive which makes it difficult to get everything spaced right and leveled. I used the Disney Font for her name. I'm sure with time it will not be as time consuming. It turned out so cute with the ruffle ribbon and I can't wait to see her in it with the pants and Minnie ears. I showed it to her last night and she said, "Oh mommy! It is so pretty!".

Wooden Birthday Hat

I have a few projects that I am working on right now - #1 Bailey's Pink and Purple Princess Dress Up 4th Birthday Party (Say that 3 times fast!) and #2 Disney World Outfits! I have already made a few things for Disney World (Ariel's Costume, Minnie Ears, & a few embroidered shirts). The decorations for her party are coming along smoothly...hanging tulle pompoms, a tutu for the dessert table and last night I finished the centerpiece for the dessert table...a wooden birthday hat! I need to start taking pictures with my camera instead of my phone because the pictures make everything look dingy. Her party is one month away...so come back to check out the birthday party photos and all the outfits to Bailey and I will be wearing to Disney World!

Me and My Bailey

The one thing I do not like about crafting is the time is takes away from my little girl. I try to do projects that she can help pick out colors or assist me in any way, but I'm a bit of a perfectionist so it doesn't leave too much room for her to help...although when it comes to baking she helps me out more. She brings her markers and coloring books into where I am getting my "craft magic" on but it isn't the same as spending time together so I try to wait until after bed time to work on projects.

Pretty much every night she wants to color so I snapped this picture with my phone of us laying on her bed watching Cinderella and getting our coloring on. Just a typical night in pajamas by 7:00 PM.

This is a different night (I'm wearing the same pajamas though and no make up) after I finished making our Minnie Ears for Disney World for her Big 4th Birthday coming up.

I made them with 2" thick head bands, 3 fleece pages, and Minnie Mouse's signature ribbon. Mine has the bigger bows :)

Tag Binky's for Baby Gifts

After learning to use my embroidery machine I cut out a few squares and made these two adorable binky's for some upcoming showers. I used soft flannel to make them because its an easy material to work with and wash and they are super soft. Both babies haven't been named yet so I embroidered the last name initial or name.

Embroidery Take #2

My friend and I met up again with our twin embroidery machines this past Saturday in hopes of actually making something this time ;) After our last session was a complete flop of mess ups I was a bit apprehensive about using it again. So this time I decided to watch the video that came with the machine to see if there was something we missed...how about an embroidery foot?!? When I watched the lady on the video take that little "do hickey" out of the bag of tools (The tools I told Jessica we wouldn't need) and put it on...well you could have seen the light bulb above my head turn on. So first things first...put the EMBROIDERY FOOT on. Sheesh! That would have saved me a lot of stress - we thought our machines were broken or we were unable to use it. So after we put the correct tool on we were off! I made Bailey all sorts of stuff for this summer and our upcoming Disney World trip for her birthday. I love the Minnie Mouse applique at the bottom :)

ZTA Hand Towel for an upcoming give away basket

"Bailey" in blue to match the shirt and skirt set

"Bailey" in purple to go on a purple shirt...this was her choice ;) I will probably add an applique to the bottom to spice it up some

"B" on a white cardigan

Craft Space

A few blogs I have seen post where they do their creating and since I made a post before about the "extra bedroom" and how it isn't exactly defined (office, workout room, spare bedroom, craft room, golf room/craft corner) I figured I would show you a few pictures. I finally got a filing cabinet from work and modpodged the front of it. Then after looking at it I ripped off the crimson paper that was on two of the cabinets because the white/black damask looked so much prettier so I am just going to do all four in the same pattern. Then I loaded up the drawers and I am in love with how organized it is! The top drawer is current projects, the second drawer is  all my fabrics folded in different piles for easy access, the third drawer is for actual files and the bottom drawer is for extra tools and office stuff.

You would never know walking in that there was a craft space...this is Blake's side of the room

This is my craft corner. It is super organized in every area. I can fold out the table more for cutting out bigger patterns but for the most part I don't need the whole table. Underneath I have a suitcase filled with t-shirts for my t-shirt quilt I am working on. There is also another tote filled with Bailey's shirts that need to be monogrammed for our Disney World Trip coming in....44 days!

This is the magical closet! It has everything crafty in it. I have my paints, scrapbooking section, glass etching stuff, my laminator, The Cricket, wood pieces for door hangers, 2 boxes full of stationary, wrapping paper, bags, and tissue paper, boxes of miscelaneous things, a few cake decorating items (most are in the pantry), pictures, pictures, and more pictures, ribbons... oh and my precious neglected turquoise guitar that is desparate for some loven!

My work station with my fabulous Alabama stool :) It never looks this organized but there was so much chaos that I finally organized it all and put everything in the filing cabinet. My degree sits on my table along with pictures of my family.

The Little Mermaid Costume

Do you ever go into JoAnn's to buy supplies for a project and walk out making 4?!? Yeah that is what happened to me when the Simplicity patterns went on sale for .99 cents each....I limited myself to 5, but there were at least 20 I wanted...Have you seen the dog outfits!?! We are planning a trip to Disney World for Bailey's 4th Birthday. I have reservations to eat dinner on her birthday in Cinderella's Castle! We are so excited! So I went in for a pattern on making round pillows and walked out with a princess pattern. I love it! I let her try it on without the finished trimmings and will put it away until our trip for her to wear it while we are there. Now I can get to making the other three patterns I have left...boppy pillow cover, baby shoes, and possibly "Jasmine" from Aladdin with the left over pink material from Ariel's dress. I'm a big saver when it comes to materials so I used the left over sequin straps to make a coordinating bracelet.

Castle Valentine's Day Mail Box

Last night Bailey and I worked on her Castle Valentine's Day Mail Box for school. Of course it had to be pink and purple! I was looking for a square box but ended up using two shoe boxes stacked on top with the middle gutted out for bigger goodies to go inside. If you see the polka dot tab below - that opens the top but you can stick the valentines in through the draw bridge on the back. Bailey put all the princess stickers on it. I used my wavy circle punch to make all the circles with the left over scrap pieces. It was a fun little project that took about 1 1/2 hours and 7 mini glue sticks! Happy Valentine's Day!
